I absolutely loved creating this piece of my Mother. I wanted to capture her peace, a timeless moment between the two of them.
The reference photo used to create the oil painting. My Mother was in her early 20s in this photo. It was taken on an Austrian lake, as my parent’s travelled through Europe well before us children were born.
Over the years I have completed approximately 18 commissioned artworks and I have found over time that diverse life experiences endlessly intrigue me, and commissions provide an avenue for me as an artist to contribute to others' stories, create something beyond aesthetics, and witness the emotional bond my art fosters in someone’s life.
Engaging in commissioned artworks is not just a profession but a joy for me. The thrill of collaborating with individuals, understanding their unique stories, and translating their visions into tangible art is immensely fulfilling. Each commission is a journey—an exploration of emotions, preferences, and aspirations.

This commissioned artwork was created specifically to be translated into a book cover for author, Shannon Audrey Swales. Shannon is a psychologist who suffered a major burnout at the beginning of 2021 and, to help herself heal, began a journal recording her path of recovery, which has now become her first published book ‘Nothing Left to Give’. We worked together to gain clarity on her vision for her book cover and most importantly recreate the feeling of burnout onto canvas. Wildflowers also held importance, memories of walking through fields of grass and wildflowers while in recovery, so we found a subtle way for those to be included without compromising on the overall emotion.
My responsibility as the artist centers around understanding your vision. Whether it’s a burst of florals breathing life into your space or a poignant portrait immortalising a moment, I aim to translate your ideas into a captivating work of art. With an eye for detail and a passion for bringing stories to life, I ensure a collaborative and fulfilling process, making your artistic vision a reality.
