Prelude began during a wildflower walk through the heathland behind Marcus Beach on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

While exploring the wildflowers, a planned burn was taking place nearby, sending smoke drifting through the landscape and transforming the late-afternoon light. It felt like an extraordinary moment to witness, particularly knowing that the very heathland we had been exploring would soon undergo its own cycle of fire and regeneration.

I was drawn to the atmosphere created by the smoke and light, but also to what the fire represented. Although it marks the end of one season, it also makes way for new growth and the return of the wildflowers.
