The Details
Chasing Gold is a small 30 × 30 cm oil painting study of the Wallum Banksia (Banksia aemula), a native wildflower found throughout the coastal heathlands of Queensland's Sunshine Coast. I was drawn to the beautiful golden tones of the banksia and the way the light catches its intricate form. Through this smaller study, I wanted to explore the warmth, colour and subtle details of a wildflower I've come to know and love through my walks amongst the Wallum.
